Object-oriented modelling of physical systems using design patterns

In the last years formal description languages and object-oriented design technologies became more and more important for modelling physical systems. In this paper a methodology taken from the computer science commu-nity will be presented: the Design Patterns approach by Gamma et al. [3]. Adopting to the physical systems mod-elling the authors propose a strategy for implementing model libraries for different physical domains. For all examples the object-oriented modelling language Modelica is used.
